Kim June is a lifelong resident of Anne Arundel County. She is currently working at the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) as the Data Governance and Chief Privacy Officer. Previously, she ran a small business, Springforward, Inc., contracting with the federal government. Kim is also an attorney, admitted to the Maryland bar in 2019. She has two sons and one granddaughter. If elected State Senator for District 32, she will work tirelessly to unify the district, focusing on local issues and what matters most to the residents.
I want to unify the district ensuring that there is a baseline of services to all of its residents that is not contingent on income, race, or zip code. This baseline of services includes access to recreational facilities, parks, and beautification, such as visual improvements. All are key aspects of community development, and all bring people together.
A top priority of my campaign is to fight for lower violent crime rates and increase the safety of our community. I support comprehensive community safety plans which emphasize prevention, intervention, justice and rehabilitation, and provide the tools and resources necessary to implement these plans.
I support and call for more programs to lower individual taxes, such as, eliminating income taxes altogether for retirees and increasing local tax relief for working families. I also support providing tax credits to businesses who hire individuals with barriers and tax credits to Maryland’s hospitality and tourism industries.
A top priority of my campaign is to aid the community with the rising cost of living. I strongly believe that the best way to do this is to take most of the $7 billion record budget surplus collected from taxpayers during Covid and return it to the taxpayers without delay so that they may manage their households more effectively during this inflationary time.
Parental rights are a parent's rights to make important decisions and to take actions on behalf of their child. I strongly believe that Maryland should have a state statute that explicitly defines and protects parental rights as fundamental rights.
A top priority of my campaign is to fight for lower taxes. In the short term, I believe we should take steps to immediately minimize the impact of the automatic 18% legislative gas tax increase that just took effect July 1, 2022. In the long term, I will call for the complete repeal of the automatic gas tax. This will save Marylanders $37.5 million in FY23 and $117 million by FY27.
